Mathieu Santos, best known as the bassist from Syracuse natives Ra Ra Riot, is slated to release some music as a solo side project on July 29th.
"I Can Hear The Trains Coming" sounds a lot like a Ra Ra Riot tune minus the strings and frontman Wes Miles' vocals. That's not to say that the track sounds empty, as Mathieu fills the audiospace with his own echoing falsetto (which sounds much like Miles') and an evolving beat. It's no surprise that the bass is the most impressive element in the arrangement.
Though it doesn't sound as polished as we're used to hearing from Santos and his bandmates, it's a solid solo effort that's worth a listen.
